100matolog UK joined hands with the Life Sciences and Health Division of the UK Department for International Trade, the Scottish Development International and Invest Northern Ireland, and successfully held the " UK Medical Technology Innovation Project Roadshow of CMEF China International Medical Equipment Expo 2021" at the Happiness Science Lab of Tsinghua Science Park in Beijing on May 11.

The event was held both online and offline. Experts of British health care industry analyzed the frontier trend of the medical equipment innovation. Eleven leading British medical equipment projects joined the roadshow to introduce their companies and products. More than 50 investors, medical equipment industry experts also made a deep interaction and communication with the project teams.

Richard Cowin, Councilor for Health and Life Sciences at the UK Department for International Trade, said in his speech that the medical technology industry in UK has a long history and has a unique ecosystem based on the NHS. It is strongly supported by the government in medical innovation. In medical devices, UK innovation combined with China's research and development, production capacity and mature supply chain system will create the most internationally competitive ecosystem. It is particularly important to strengthen China-UK cooperation in the field of health care in the face of current challenge of COVID-19.

Dr. Neil Ebenezer, an expert in the medical technology sector at the UK Department for International Trade, then explained the current state and opportunities of the UK medical technology sector; Robert Berry, Head of Health Sciences Industry Innovation at the University of Sussex in Kent, UK, talked about the UK National Health Service (NHS) and how it fits into the NHS supply chain; Wu Jiang, Chief Representative of the UK Export Finance Agency (UKEF) in China Region, explained how UKEF can provide flexible and competitive financing for buyers of UK goods and services.

Enterprises in the roadshow

Next, 11 companies from the UK conducted an online roadshow one by one and answered questions from the audience. The common feature of the roadshow enterprises is that they have very advanced and innovative expertise, covering business areas such as artificial intelligence in vitro fertilization, special plasma filtration, minimally invasive cancer robots, artificial cartilage and so on. During the roadshow, senior executives from Landau Laboratories, the UK's largest medical and health diagnostics company, and the UK Nonwoven Fabrics Innovation Institute made on-site presentations to promote their core technologies and products. Investors and industry experts in relevant fields also expressed their willingness to further communicate in depth and seek cooperation.
